Congratulations to the Tom's employee who managed to convince his boss to let them hire a bunch of models! If only there was some reason I needed models in my engineering business... Any ideas?

In the next one just make her giggle for 30 seconds, should be enough time for target audience, and you'll save on animations.

Tom's had better figure out if wants to be like a car magazine for hobbyists or a journal for professionals, because with videos like these showing up it can't be both anymore.

Given the number of reviewers and readers who think of computers as only gaming machines, I'd say that Tom's has quite a way to go before it's a journal for professionals. It's top of my hardware bookmarks list, I've appreciated many reviews and articles since I joined, and I've learned a lot from the site, but it's not been as helpful in determining what I needed for an analytical computing build as I'd expect from a site that was truly a journal for professionals. Tom's is a gamer site until it changes that balance.

as far as I can tell - the 680 was only released to reviewers with a few extras to new egg so they would show up on their site. Nvidia must be having major production issues.

@Ojas "Come on, you lot are in a "developed" country, it's 2012, the amount of sexism makes me sad. You can do better, honestly."

Well, i got news for you, undeveloped countries also tell their woman to shut up, get in the kitchen and produce food and babies, any more and your stoned. Its because we live in a developed country that women can do what they want, whether it is programing for a multimillion dollar company or model for a small video shoot. Be more gracious, that lady in the video is doing what her profession is. And for people shooting down this site as not being professional journalists, here is the definition of Professional from Webster: following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain. Well, they journal and get paid to do it. There, all your opinions don't matter, because by definition they are professional journalists. Geez all this outrage, unnerving. Woman want equality but when another woman doesnt do what THEY think is right, they bash her for it? Wheres the sense in that?

Just to make a point!

Mostly men are geeks about PC hardware.
Most men like women.

The small percentage of men who disapprove of using women for the purpose of appealing to men hasn't been watching any TV or reading any magazines in the past 50 years!

I think Tom's knows this and from my point of view, it makes the review a little more appealing to men and has done it's job.

Just to assume "all men" treat women like objects is false, I truly appreciate an attractive woman and that says a lot to women who spend most of their time trying to look good for us men! :)

Hehe. No it's not news for me, it's what i see when i look around. So it's bad enough when it's here, worse when it happens in "developed" countries. You wrote a nice long response, but man, actions speak louder than words. If that's how the developed countries see developing countries, then they should try and set an example.

Anyway, that statement of yours is still pretty much true world over, to a certain extent. "hey xyz woman, make me a sandwich"- does that sound familiar? Where did that come from now?

As far your ending line is concerned, no one's bashing the woman here. The criticism is directed towards Tom's. You know as well as i do that they put her there for the "eye candy" factor alone. She didn't get up and make a video and post it here on her own. She was hired/asked to do the vid, right? And was there anything in that vid that was new or of any importance?

If there were true equality, there would at least be an equal chance of a male model presenting that vid, assuming that the prerequisite was a model (which is very likely, there was nothing in that video that we didn't know about, and it was hardly in any detail). We know that's not the present case.

p.s. Don't stereotype that stoning thing, Iran isn't equal to the developing world, and neither does the entire developing world follow Sharia law.

I wonder if she has 4 display ports like the gtx 680. I'd like to see some 4 way SLI action with those GTX 680s shes got. Maybe she shouldn't keep herself so illusive, I'd like to plug 2 power connector into her.

They still kill woman in small towns in Mexico, 3rd world isn't as far as you might think. To your other comments I whole wholehearted agree with you. Attractive women in a video, ill admit is a guilty pleasure and one that Toms exploits willingly. There was nothing new or informative, it was all eye candy for sure 😉 With the amount of exposure that Nvidia is getting out of this, I'm pretty sure they don't care but Toms probably should. My advice, have a ripped dude come out at the end holding the video card straight up at belt line level haha. I wonder what the response would be if a really hot geeky woman who knew what she was talking about did the next video would be? I'm not giving toms any ideas or anything....
And Ojas, thank you for not just ranting, your reply was very concise, to the point and not demeaning in any manner. Very rare this day in age in any forum :)

The posts getting up votes and down votes are so inconsistent.. Someone posts boobs, up vote... Someone else posts boobs... Down vote.

Regardless,

Yeah, she's pretty, but her lines felt like she was reading them, and not informing us. We get teased with a beautiful woman, because they know we can't get our grubby hands on that hot piece of ass known as the GTX 680. Let's not forget about the 7970, either. Too bad I can't afford either of them, so I'll just have to keep them as my centerfolds, hung up on the wall.

I live in India man! That crap goes down here too, which is why i'm against it. We're not "third world" politically but, well. Socioeconomic development still lacks in many areas.

Hehe ranting achieves nothing, i avoid it 😉

Yeah all in all a free Nvidia ad. Or a reminder that cards aren't available and we should go for AMD's stuff quickly 😀

[citation][nom]rohantheneo[/nom]Does anyone else is also feeling that Tom's is pushing too hard to promote NVidia Cards. I mean look at that post about AMD 7000 cards bashing them for a bug even when it was fixed at the time of writing! OK, just imagine this 'low yield' situation happening with AMD....how much bad publicity Tom's would have given them, I can only imagine!Tom's I really want you to be an impartial Tech Journalist! Pls stop favoring companies..[/citation]

They didn't "bash" them, they proved that the apparent problem was just a driver issue. They proved AMD wasn't playing some kind of game to make their cards look better.

Learn how to read.

To give you another perspective; I read toms primarily during downtime at work, the inclusion of a hot female reviewer restricts me from watching this. It could be argued that is is sexist/unfair that a hot woman cant review hardware without it being suggestive/nsfw, but it the reality.

If I wanted to see hot women, i wouldn't be on this website, i, like many others, come here for information.

That being said, if this stuff is bringing in the page hits, go for it; I will just be skipping these.

I'm actually going to weigh in here. I think there is a great danger of sexism. You see an attractive woman and immediately assume some sort of lack of knowledge. That's wrong, but at the same time we HAVE come to expect that anyone reporting on hardware has some degree of competency on the subject.
So, do we doubt some guy in glasses and a t-shirt equally? No, we make an assumption that he knows what he's talking about... because there is no other reason he would be there.
So, in conclusion I think it's reasonable to want some sort of demonstration of knowledge by a reporter, but not reasonable to make assumptions based on a display of other assets.

if tom continue doing videos with girls like that i will really forget about hardware being the reason to visit the webpage XD... Looking forward to big kepler and it´s 7000 millions transistor.

Nvidia pays reviewer sites for articles, reviews, news, etc that benefit them more than AMD. Business is business.
