Hi:

I just noticed in my list of Add/Remove Programs that I have both
Viewpoint Media Player and Viewpoint Manager installed. Are these programs
necessary and/or considered Spyware/Malware? I have no idea how these
programs were installed and would like to delete them.

Thanks

I believe they are a VRML plugin used to view 3D objects, etc on the web or
on your system if you downloaded same. Don't think they are malicious. Go
here http://www.viewpoint.com/ for more info.

These programs got installed with an AOL product - the AOL Internet
service and/or AOL Instant Messenger. They do "phone home" and so most
techs such as myself consider them spyware and routinely uninstall
them. They are not necessary and you will not even notice they are
gone.

IIRC they're installed by Wild Tangent which, in turn, is installed by
default with AIM.

Uninstall them via Add/Remove Programs.

They are also installed by AOL if you have it. And if you remove
them, AOL will just reinstall them the next time it is run.
