profjfo, the difference in digital vs. analog is up to you. You need to see the LCD's first hand before you decide. Is there a store you know of that sells any Samsungs?

Well....dunno what to tell you on that. It all comes down to user's opinions, etc. then. And you know how those can get out of hand at times (I think you know what I am talking about).

Ah, the 170T. Had I known about it, I would've gotten it rather than my TFT7020 previously. It really does look sweet as hell, and the specs are quite nice. It's got a 25ms response time, so it definetly looks good. There are a few reviews for it: <A HREF="http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/samsung170t/index.html" target="_new">http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/samsung170t/index.html</A>

Here's a review to the 171P from PC Magazine. It seems to be an improvement over the 170T with ....

http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s=1568&a=21884,00.asp?kc=PCNKT0107KTX1K0000360

The 171P has a 25ms Response time, 500:1 Contrast, 250n brightness, with 170 degree viewing angles.

The 170T is just a little scaled down with 400:1 Contrast, 220n brightness, with 160 degree viewing angles. I haven't seen anything about the response time on Samsung's site, but others say 25ms.

Just some info as I've been looking at these lately...

"then the problem comes, 780 plus chipping which is like 50 plus tax for cali residents, 100, then its almost a grand"

sheesh - you can get a Viewsonic 19" for less than that and be happy...

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is.

The prices of every Viewsonic LCD went up, so I would advise against getting a Viewsonic right now because of prices (The VG191 is averaging about 1200 now). Plus Samsung's prices (if they went up at all) didn't seem to go up much. I'd stick with them if you want one from them.

The price of lcd have gone up a great deal, the place when I bought mine PCNation have gone from 938 to 1200!!!

if you want a lcd and is somewhat flexible, the place to get lcd now is B/M place like Bestbuy/Compusa where the in store price is more fixed!

you can get Samsung 17in/ Viewsonic 17in- Viewsonic VA800 for about $700!!

Compusa also have Sony lcd for sale for about 1000

that is true!

the thing to do is go to B/M store and found a model that you are happy with! then do a search on cnet for the current net price from a "big" net store! buy.com/pcnation/gateway etc, and compare the price!!

you will not found the selection as you might on a net store, but with today lcd pricing going up, you might found a better price in comparision!

good luck

But also pay attention to reseller ratings. You wouldn't want to compare or buy from some fly-by-night place that looks like a kindergartner designed the website.

two quick quesions, what is a Good Response time for an LCD... and #2 out of these three, price not meaning anything...which is the better choice and why? Samsung170 or the VG171 or VG181 i know the VG181 is 18"'s and the other are only 17" but if the Picture quality is better on one of them then the 1 Inch wouldn't make a Difference to me.. i just want a quality picture if im gonna pay that much!!

thanks
