I've got a USB Infrared adapter that i want to use to communicate with a remote control :D, but the software i've got looks towards the com ports for data transfer. As the infrared device is USB, obviously this causes problems.

Rather than buy a converter cable- usb to rs323 seems a bit of a step backwards - i was wondering if anyone had *any* ideas about a sort of emulator that makes the usb device look like its resident on one of the com ports, like a virtual adapter, or something.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

If you do not use your serial ports, you can try disabling them in the bios so that the software needs to look someplace else and maybe find your USB device.

In ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies
