Recently my friend got a virus on his nvme drive. We were planning on using his external to boot windows and reformat the drive. How would we plugin and reformat the drive without the virus spreading?

Solution
He was trying download a ad-blocker but it was fake so he got a virus we believe. His PC will now not boot and will only go into the bios. He had a 8 TB external plugged in but it seems to be unharmed.
From a different uninfected PC, create a Win 10 USB to install with.

Disconnect the 8TB, boot from the USB you created, full wipe and reinstall.

More details needed.

No, you can't just use an external to boot windows.
With a Win 10 USB install thing, yes. But not an actual Windows install.

But, details please.

So if we keep the nvme plugged in it shouldn't spread to the usb?
