I open my computer everything is all right, the loading screen is coming and after that it says a check-disk should be done or if u want to skip it press any key in 10 seconds. I don t press a key and it starts to check disk for errors. Around 60 percent it stops and does nothing. It just waits for ever, it doesn t go to windows and i reset the computer but it happens again. I press a key to skip it but it doesn t skip. So i can t open my computer. I don t know why it happens (virus or another program). Does anybody know something about this? How can I fix it?(other than formatting)

The OS detected errors on the hard drive and scheduled a chkdsk, which is a hard drive repair tool. It sounds like that either failed when it got stuck on an error or perhaps you stopped it while it was trying to fix something. Let it sit there at 60% for a LONG time before you give up. If that does not work then determine the manufacturer of the hard drive, Segate or Western Digital etc. and go to their website and download their diagnostic software and follow the directions for using it.

Ok first sorry about the double post I had a power glitch.
Second Notherdude is correct.
Third I meant to say try to boot from the install disk to a command prompt and try chkdsk from there.
I had that happen once where chkdsk worked from there possibly due to either that was the part of the disk that was messed up or maybe the page file is used during the process and it was messed up. Im not sure

Also possibly try SFC while on the disk
I hate to see a reformat occur

Thank you guys :). I have managed to do something with the harddisk cd and the vista dvd and get my comp. to start. I tried to do checkdisk in windows but it gave an error at %60 percent. I think there is a problem there but I couldn t find it. I disabled checkdisk at startup, now everything seems ok but there may be a problem in future because of this.
