I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 Laptop
It has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 graphics card
I want to upgrade from 64 bit Windows Vista Ultimate to 64 bit Windows 7 but it says there will be a compatibility problem with the graphics card.
Is there a fix before I do the upgrade?
How hard is it to change out the graphics card?

You can't change out a graphics chip in a laptop.

Most likely, it means that a graphics chip driver update will be needed.

There is a difference between upgrade in place, which will preserve your apps settings and files, and a clean install.
If you will be doing a clean install using upgrade media, you might want to read this article which describes the issues.

Sometimes upgrade in place will have problems that are carried forward from problems with vista.
Really, a clean install is best.

May I suggest that this might be a great time to replace the laptop hard drive with a SSD. It will transform the performance of the laptop.
