I'm going to China which I believe heavily censors many websites...which I would probably like to use abroad so I was informed about VPN.

From what I understand VPN can uncensor blocked sites in China whilst connected to Wifi. However I was also told it does not always work and is not completely reliable and not to mention "incredibly slow" so I was wondering if something such as a "VPN Router" existed and it was portable so while I am staying somewhere I can plug it in to lets say.. a Super hub and it would function as a VPN.

Look for a router that supports OpenVPN out of the box. Most ASUS ones do. You will also need to purchase a VPN account from a provider that also supports OpenVPN. There is a speed penalty, but with a qulity router it won't matter. Alternatively, you can configure your device/computer to access teh internet through VPN directly. If you only use one device, this would be the easyest way to do it.

Also, if you only need to access things through a browser, chck out the TOR Browser. It's as simple as browsing with it.
