Basically a bought a whole new PC, new ssd, hdd, new mobo, new graphicas card etc etc. Recently i had bought an original w10 licence that came with a code and i validated w10 on my previous rig, but im selling that one. Is there a way to pass the licence from my older PC to the new one? or il have to buy a new licence? It was a retail w10 pro licence.

Solution
If you uninstall or deactivate Windows 10 on the previous rig, you can then install and reactivate it on the new machine provided you have a retail license (not OEM).
Easiest way to do this is to associate (tie) the license to your Microsoft Account (make sure you have the anniversary update first), then once you uninstall/deactivate on the previous machine, it will be easy to get Windows to reactivate once you have it on the new machine.

One of the nicest things about the Windows 10 Anniversary update is it allows us to easily change or replace hardware without worry of Windows no longer activating.

Is there a way to check that i have that exact update?
Also thanks for your reply, its very helpful
good to know that i wont need to buy w10 again

If you click on the "Start" button (the white Windows icon at the bottom left) and you see the small icons up the left side, the default ones are Power, Settings and File Explorer, then you have the update. This is the quickest way to find out.

I think i clearly said in my question that its a RETAIL licence.

i didn't saw that information, or it was not clear enough to me

then youy can migrate that license without any issue, if it gives you problems when activating it, call microsfot, they will help you on the activation process, if necesary

Yeah dont worry, it can happen, i put it in the end of the question. Thanks for the help man, this forum is amazing haha

I'l check it out when i come home
