I've been seeing them for 35 after rebate or 45 no rebate every week. Espeically in Newegg's shell shockers deals.

soldier37: 16GB of DDR3 1600 is already piss-cheap today, I'm not sure what magical pricepoint you're hoping for...

Yea I feel like RAM is the component where I've seen the biggest price drops over the last year. I built a computer in probably April 2010, paid $170 for 6GB of 1600MHz DDR3. Built a computer last week (August, 2011), paid $65 for 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 (low voltage ram, too).

RAM prices have already dropped significantly over the last year, with DDR3 prices well below what DDR2 prices were two years ago. (Prior to the Q3/Q4 2009 RAM price increase).

If RAM gets much cheaper, vendors may as well give it away...

Amazing how cheap ram has gotten. I would like to see 8GB & 16GB modules get to market. At $1.25 for 16GB, that's only $20. I'd pick up enough to fill every slot on every system I have access to. Not that I can think of anything, even from Microsoft, that could use 3 or 4 sticks of 16GB.

I still remember back in the day getting an amazing price on 4 MB simms (early 486 days) $351 (inc tax) each, if I bought enough to max out my workstation (16 slots) - $5,616. Now you can get 1000x that amount for under $100.

Hello... We ARE in Q3 and this year and RAM prices have already dropped. You can buy 8 GB. of name brand RAM for ~ $60. which is a steal IMO.

BTW, for those who do not know - Mixing of RAM is never recommended and is not guaranteed to work even if the DIMMs are the identical model. See Corsair and other website Upgrade Guides to confirm this. See the various RAM forums for folks who have learned the hard way that unless you buy a Matchded, Tested RAM Kit the RAM may not work as desired or at all.

I'm still running 4x2GB 800 DDR2 and there is absolutely, absolutely no need to upgrade.
Even though I almost did upgrade to 2500K and DDR3 but realized that that my PhenomII B55( 555 X2 unlocked to full 955 X4)@3.6Ghz in marriage with Radeon 6950 flashed to 6970 is more than enough to play all the games at max detail at 1920x1200.

So why upgrade? I know that urge is there but really do we need more than 8 GB? Simple NO. I have not seen my memory go beyond 50% use ever

How much farther can those 2GB sticks really drop? Some of them are down to $30 for a 2x2GB kit. Hopefully this really just means that the faster kits will be coming down in price to meet the 1333MHz kits at rock bottom prices.
