I personally would grab a 6870 I dont think it is worth it to go with the 5870 at this point and most 6870s can be oced to 5870 levels, it is newer tech and can handle dx11 better then the 5 series imo, also I would get a 6870 over a gtx 470 because of its lower heat and power consumption. Also I dont care about physx, but if you must have it I guess go for the 470 otherwise 6870 is the logical choice, they are around ~240 right now on the egg

then again if I could get any card right now reguardless of budget it would be the gtx 570 imo that is the best buy for a single card high end solution, but in the end you will be happy no matter which you choose of the mentioned gpus

i was really looking hard into the Gigabyte GTX 470 SOC just now, and it can be easily overclocked to meet the level of the gtx 480, which is about a 400$ card. it has really low temps and power consumption and also very quiet. seems very intriguing. the lowest price i found although was 280$. Opinions vs other cards mentioned?

For starters you have the re naming bit wrong as the 8800GTX was a G8x not a G9x and had been discontinued before things were re named and apart from not being able to spell Fermi correctly only a true fanatic would have a proble with seeing a mock up of an upcoming product, do you hate all car companies then? Because they have been using clay mock ups for years and half of them don't even make it into production.

Please, can you post a link to a review of this 6990 that has just come out?

Mousemonkey, are you an Nvidia fan boy? I would like Nvidia equal to AMD because they do, indeed, make a good product. They have just pulled some serious crap that AMD doesn't. The card that he said was a Fermi (haha knew I was spelling fermi wrong last time, just didn't know where ) he was trying to say that it was a real card, when it was never released. Nvidia has lost my business unless they will come out with a card that beats AMD's in price and performance. AMD doesn't pull crap like Nvidia and also normally comes out with the cheapest product. Yes, I do admit that Nvidia has WAAAAAAY more stable drivers, but I still prefer AMD. Like it or not, I do.

Yes I do prefer Nvidia to Ati, one reason being that I don't see why I should spend money on a card that can't run properly because the software required to make it run does not work properly and as for the "crap" what about the 5xxx GSOD that Ati refused to acknowledge for almost four months or so before coming up with a "fix", to a problem they said didn't exist?

Well, I do see why you are mad at AMD. If Nvidia didn't do some dumb things, then I would probably like them more. AMD does have some better prices you gotta admit, like $100 for a hd4870 and $200 for a gtx260. It makes no sense, the only people who would buy a gtx260 are fan boys of Nvidia.

I realized that the 6990 was going to be late. 🙁 I like AMD that's all I am saying, if you don't like it that is too bad.

And you don't like Nvidia, I just find your reasons "interesting" as Ati are not quite the angelic company that you seem to be trying to make them out to be and so what if their cards are cheaper? Maybe you only get what you pay for? [:mousemonkey]

I dont understand this "small fortune" coment.

To me it seems like you pay 20$ MORE for driver instability by purchasing an ATI 6970 as opposed to the GTX 570.

Considering the cards preform the same, youre losing Physx, driver stablity, etc etc and payign 20$ more just so you can support an underperforming company and buy somehtign with a red logo.

I do not want Physx. Normally AMD drivers work pretty well anyway. Yes, I do know that they are not top of the line drivers. Besides that AMD just has a better selection too. Better price tag. AMD does NOT pull crap like Nvidia does. Nvidia has lost my business. I will probably not buty fom Intel or Nvidia because of bad business practices. Even if Nvidia provided a product at the same price as AMD with same performance they have made some bad choices and for that I will not support them. Down with Nvidia up with AMD. :kaola:

How does what you want help the OP?

Just because you don't want it does not mean that someone else might not want or need it, so what makes you think that the OP cares what you think? Stick to the topic or get off the thread.
