I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium on my HDD (Custom built PC btw) but i dont have an SSD. I want to get Windows 8 and also an SSD so i can have faster boot times etc. But since W7 is already on my HDD and i want to put W8 on an SSD what would i have to do to make that work? Do i set the SSD for the first boot priority so W8 will launch? Would it cause problems having W7 on an HDD and W8 on an SSD at the same time? And wont i have to reinstall all my programs that i have or would they still work after i delete W7?

Buy the SSD
Buy the Windows 8 (64bit)
Disconnect all other drives, excpt the DVD and new SSD
Install
Activate
Once everything works, verify the SSD is the only thing in the boot sequence
Connect the other drives
Yes, you'll have to reinstall all your applications.

Will i just have to delete Windows 7 from the HDD?

Yes, that's it. You probably also want to remove the 'System Reserved' partition from that drive. That is the boot info from the Win7 install.
