Want to use a new RAM with my existing older one

So this is a quick question ..
Well Im trying to upgrade my existing seedbox with 1GB RAM DDR2
I have a dual core intel CPU and some GIGABYTE mobo and 1Gb RAM DDR2
So can I stack one more gig of ram onto my mobo ?? WIll it have any issues ??
Should I consider buying a new ram having same specs as the previous one ??
And if yes , then what specifications do exactly matter??

As long as the ram is supported by the motherboard and does not exceed the total amount of memory supported by the motherboard you should have no problems.
