Hi hope everyone is doing wicked.
Im currently in the market to upgrade my pc so i can game at 1440p 144hz with stable fps - with my current setup im struggling to maintain good fps even at 1080p 60hz so im abit unaware of the part i should probably invest most of my budget into.
My current rig:
NZXT case (dunno which one - has good airflow and is big?)
Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 rev.4
CPU: AMD FX 9590 (biggest regret purchase ive ever made)
GPU: MSI GTX 970 4GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (x2 8GB) DDR3
PSU: Corsairx 600W
Cooling: 3x 120mm case fans - AMD watercooling (came with the FX 9590)
SSD and Hard drives. (not a clue (not relevant im guessing)
So, just a couple of things to keep in mind, because your probably curious as to why i cant hold high fps.
I looked into SLI with the GTX 970 but with very little knowledge of that area and pc in general i dont know if selling the GTX 970 i have and upgrading to 1060. But if my CPU is bottlenecking me then is it better to prioritise that and go for an i7? And do i have good enough ram or enough - i even think the ram is underclocked the XMP profile doesnt work and its running at like 1.3k or 600mhz one of the 2. Whats the most cost efficient route?
This turned into a rant lmao - Budget is around 300-400 currently and going for the DELL S2417DG 23.8inch as my 1440p monitor.

Thank you in advance!

- Ive had to under-clock the CPU down to 4.4ghz in order for it to be stable - and bump the volts up to 1.49v.
- Have the GPU overclocked by 180mhz on the GPU clock and 300mhz on the memory clock. It runs stable and max temps it reaches is around 65-67 under load.
- When it comes to the issue of FPS using the Afterburner programme in game (League of legends), i can see that when it comes to the drop in frames that the load on the GPU is around 10% whilst the CPU is 70-80% so i guess im being bottle necked by my CPU.
