So i just spilled some water, nothing about it thought it stayed on my desk since my mousepad was absolutely drenched in water. but then i look down at my computer and see the water dripping down onto the GPU so in my panic i shut off the PC, and thoroughly dryed all components. but since then the computer has been shutting down randomly. have i destroyed something?

Try to dry your computer some more: remove all the components (graphics card, disks) and blow them (and the motherboard) with a hair dryer (don't use too high temperature though). Let it sit for a while (longer the better) and reassemble the components back. There is a good chance that everything will be OK if it was just a plain water.

Oh, and I'd recommend temporarily removing the BIOS battery while it's drying.
