Watery phenomenon

Hadn't heard this anywhere else, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has
encountered this:

There are at least three caverns where if you swim down to the bottom of
one of the pools, the screen goes black fo a moment and you get
deposited back at the starting point. There seems to be no harm in
this, but no great utility either.

Does anyone know how many places do this, or if any of them lead into a
new area (i.e., one not otherwise accessible)?

It's a bug. Basically, the game is designed so that if you somehow manage
to walk through the geometry in an interior cell and outside the walls,
instead of just falling forever in the void, it deposits you back at the
door you came in through. This is a pretty good system most of the time,
and it's much easier than making the collision detection accurate enough to
prevent this from occurring in the first place. However, there are a few
caves where there are pits that go deep enough to fall below the plane where
it thinks you've fallen out of the geometry. It just means that apparently,
these caves were not thoroughly tested enough to prevent this from
happening. No harm in it, really, and in one case I used it as a neat
shortcut back to the entrance, but it's really not supposed to happen.

Punammu for certain, the other two I don't recall offhand except they're
both quest related. Both involve an entrance tunnel which opens into a
4-way intersection; if you go left there's a small cavern with a deep
pool. Granted, a lot of caverns are built that way...

I've also had this happen in some caverns that were not
filled with water. It seems to happen with only certain
large cavern peices. The battlefield in old mournhould
(Tribunal) is one such cavern.
