WD 10ears "green"

I recently installed a wd 10ears "caviar green" sata drive, works fine (though I've heard horror stories) except for the noise, it sounds like a whole herd of crickets on a summers eve. This can't be right! I understand that it's parking every 8 seconds when not in use and I have read that I can change that from every 8 seconds to never if need be, quiet would be good. Any danger in delaying the head parking?

delaying the head parking defeats the safety factor that frequent parking imparts to the HDD.
