WD Caviar Blacks in RAID 0 ???

I'm about to purchase components for a Video Editing PC Build and was planning on using 2 WD Caviar Black HD's in RAID 0. I just came across info in some posts regarding WD Blacks can't be used in RAID because of something called TLER . Anybody have solid input on this?

Yeah, it's a bunch of bunk that keeps getting repeated on the internet. They work fine in RAID; in fact, I have a WD Caviar Black RAID0 in my PC.

There are specific applications where using reds are important(mostly using high end HBA's). Consumer level machines(the ones we typically use at home) using WD Blacks are fine, and this even says it.

Using a pair of desktop drives in RAID 0 will be much slower than using a single SSD so it is not a good option for speed

and is way worse for data security

what do you mean by high end HBA's?

HBA is a Host Bus Adapter. Basically high end raid cards built for speed.

so if im going to be using my computer for gaming, photoshop and multitasking do i want blacks or reds?
they will be used for data storage as the os will be on a ssd

Blacks are fine. reds are designed for use in a SAN or server environment. You can use reds, but the blacks will be fine. It has to do with the amount of data (throughput) on the drives over a period of time. Reds are designed for high utilization over long periods(like in a server) where blacks are designed for high throughput but for shorter duration or periods of time(like on a desktop)
