[SOLVED] WD Elements External Drive 6TB vs. 8TB?

Greetings!

1. For the 8TB, do the extra 2TB result in any loss of performance, speed or reliability compared to the 6TB?

2. Do both 6TB and 8TB versions use just a single 3.5" disc?

3. Any other considerations?

6TB will very probably be enough for a long time for me. On the other hand, 8TB is only $20 more.

Go for it. You might have to partition it, probably not, I'm a Windows 7 person, the others in here can tell if there any limitations.

No, that is not any sort of "RAID". 0 or otherwise.
It is stricly a matter of platter density. Only so much data can be contained o a single platter.
Hence, multiple platters in one hard drive size case.
