Hi guys first post here.

sorry if im in the wrong section. I am currently abroad and my only access to wifi is via sharing my ethernet connection. I have been using my mac for this purpose and has been working fine. Problem is i dont want to fire up my mac just to check my whatsapp messages.

So i tried to set up wifi sharing on my wifes windows toshiba laptop via a external software as the laptop had nothing pre installed like my old dell did. Anyway managed to set that up but u unfortunately the connection and speed has been considerably slower and weaker then the mac. Is there anything i can do to change this ? I tried going into device manager to try to change the wifi channel but wasnt able to access this via device manager for some reason.

You can't change the wireless channel there. You set the wireless channel in your wireless router's configuration utility.[/quotemsg]

Thats the thing i dont have a wireless router. Im sharing a ethernet net connection wirelessly to other devices from the toshiba laptop.

You're using adhoc networking... you basically get what you get.

you could purchase a small travel router, something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704134
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704194 (has 2 ethernet ports)

These are made for just theses situations.
