Weather anomaly; rain without rain clouds

Hi,

I've just begun experimenting with my latest two weather enhancing
add-ons; ActiveSky (v2004.5) and Flight1's "Flight Environment". I'm
running both together, because as I understand what each is supposed
to do, they should work in a complimentary fashion, and not conflict
with each other.

There are several different types of cloud textures to choose from
with the Flight Environment software (and an option for
"randomization"), so it will take me a while to sort things out so
that the most realistic cloud generation in each type of weather
might be achieved. It does offer some very interesting possibilities
though. I also have to figure out how these cloud textures interact
with ActiveSky's idea of what type of weather is happening at a given
place and time.

I suppose I should be experimenting with this interaction by flying in
real time over my local area, where I can look out the window to see
what it really looks like, then compare that with what I see in fs9.
I'll see if I can find some time this afternoon to try this method.

In any event, without really knowing what I'm doing yet, I did come
across a peculiar phenomenon last night. Rain appeared out of
nowhere...literally! There were no rain clouds depicted anywhere,
but for quite a while, it was raining! Here's a screen shot (there
were scattered clouds, but mostly it was clear; both above and ahead
of the plane in this picture, flying over the NE foothills of the
Olympic mountain range in WA state, USA):

http://tinyurl.com/a6ycb

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing rain when there are no
rain clouds? If anyone here is using both ActiveSky and Flight
Environment together, I'd be interested in your suggestions with
respect to achieving the most realistic results. Thanks!

And just for the fun of it, here's a nice picture from the same
session:

http://tinyurl.com/azqku

By the way, these screen shots were taken while flying over the
MegaScenery Pacific Northwest scenery.

We get "Sunshowers" here in Arizona from time to time.

You can see that there are t-storms way off in the distance but you're
standing in bright sunshine and it's raining.

You are flying awfully high there bush pilot!! If the plane caught fire,
you wouldn't make it to the ground. Well.. Some would.

The angle of the screen shot may be a bit deceiving, but also, I was
just returning from a flight over the mountain range, and I did have
to fly pretty high to clear some of the ridges and peaks. The heart
of the Olympic range is pretty rugged, with hardly any opportunities
for landing without severe damage, so clearing the ridges can become
more of an issue than thinking about landing! :)

Methinks you've been living for too long in the Texas flatlands, where
the biggest obstacles to aviation are big hair and Armadillo speed
bumps (pre-road kill, that is). ;-)

Please post "full" URL's.

I'd much rather cut and paste than load up on spam and spyware.

Thank you...

Hmmm. I guess my web filtering, spam and spyware blockers are doing a
pretty good job, because I don't experience those things when using
the TinyURL redirection method.

For you though, here are the full URLS:

Actually tinyurl helps with spam, :) I've never heard anyone
complain about it - on the contrary, a lot of people recommend
to hide your e-mail address "behind" tinyurl when you need people
to be able to find you, but you don't want the address in plain
sight. About the "spyware" thing - this is a simple HTTP redirect,
there is absolutely no way to "catch" anything on the way. It
doesn't even use cookies. The worst thing it can do is to
hide the forwarding url from the host that you are being reffered
to - if they are "bad guys", this is actually a good thing.

Old Okie joke----

Question: How many Texans does it take to eat an armadillo???

Answer: Three--you need two to watch out for highway traffic :))

Regards,
Paul--who lives in Oklahoma and seldom sees an armadillo on the road.
Smarter armadillos up here maybe??? <VBG>

Such phenomenon was known as "The Angels Are Crying" in my
childhood. Clear skies and pouring rain like a cow pissing on a flat
rock. Maybe you haven't experienced that previously as you aren't from
the Great Lonestar State? The Angels cry over Texas in amazement at
its utter beauty of both land and people. Maybe the Angels were crying
over you flying ability? Just a thought, nothing more!

Actually.. (to continue...) it's not TinyURL that cause the spyware/spam to
appear..
That is Photobucket.. ;o)

But if you just take precautions, and have the right protection installed,
that won't hurt.. :))

Eek! Sorry about that! Ever since I started using the photobucket
site, I already had in place all my web filtering, spyware blocking,
etc., so I've never even seen so much as a banner ad on the site, and
it doesn't drop cookies into my machine either (I block cookies as
well). Nor have I seen any indications of spyware or spam being
generated by my frequenting of the site.

Could someone describe the types of spyware and/or spam that
photobucket might be responsible for? If it's really a problem, I'll
look for another site to host my screen shots. Thanks!
