Hi,
I have got webcamxp, I am trying to broadcast of the net, i have
managed to forward a port on my router, but when i start broadcasting
i just get page not displayed, i can watch the webcam when it is on
the Lan, and it works fine, but when i set it up over the internet it
does not work.
I seem to have 2 ip's. 1 is definaly my address, as in the outside
adress to the router and then my router seems to have another adress.
Can anyone help me broadcast over the net?
Cheers
Starky

Actually I'm having the same problem!

Theoretically, your web site should be pointing at the address and 8080 port
on the internet side of the router and you should be able to configure the
router to allow incoming traffic on that port and then route it to the
internal IP address and 8080 port on the PC that's running webcamXP. If you
are running a Linksys router then
http://www.monkeychuckle.com/instructions.htm gives precise instructions.

I'm using a Netgear DG834G I've set it up the way I think it should work,
but it doesn't! Has anyone out there done got it working with my model of
router?

If you have a Dynamic IP (Most ISPs are) and not a static IP, you will
need to go to http://www.dyndns.org/ and get a Dynamic DNS like I did!
first 4? are free and the 5 costs I beleive!

Anyway, you will need to set up the camera and the router to use
Dynamic DNS.

My cam is here: http://chadhammer.com/. I am using the TLC 8000 IP cam
and like it so far! Had to jump thru some hoops to get it going
though!

I will give screen shots if you need help configuring your cam. I have
a Linksys router

Thanks for the suggestion re: the Dynamic IP. I had an automated script for
modifying the IP address in the web page file and then FTPing it up to my
web site every time I switched the webcam on. This worked fine while I was
on a broadband modem but since getting the router, I have been doing the
change manually. Still I want to get the firewall right before worrying
about that.

When I have the correct IP address on my page, it still doesn't work it has
to be something with the netgear firewall settings...
I've set up a service on the router called webcamxp and assigned port 8080
to it. I've set that service to always allowed on the inbound side and I
have set it so that any inbound traffic on that service is routed to the
internal IP of the PC that's acting as a webcam server, but it doesn't
work - I don't see what else there is to do (I've even updated the router's
firmware...

I've set images of the router my current settings for the webcamxp service
at http://www.vargr.dsl.pipex.com/router.htm
