[SOLVED] Weird Names for Graphic Cards

I notice that since gfx cards have been in short supply, Newegg and others are selling some odd-ball brand names like Yeston, GPVHOSO, Maxsum, Zoneway, and more. Are these manufacturers worth taking a chance on? Reputable but just small footprint? Or are they to be dis-trusted?

Not looking for anything high end, just something for single-player gaming that allows for max graphics at 1080p.

I'd say it depends on the following:

• Does the company have a website? If they don't, then definitely hard pass.
• What are they selling? If they're claiming it's something like a RTX 2060 but shoved in something that seems more appropriate for a GTX 1650 or 1660, I'll be very suspicious
• How much are they selling it for? Obviously the phrase "too good to be true" rings loudly here
• What's the build quality? If it looks like they slapped on an Intel stock cooler with a shroud, hard pass
• What's the reviews like? I'd say focus on the negative reviews more than the positive ones, especially if the manufacturer responded in some way. And of course, see if the review looks like it was written by an actual person.

Those are actually lesser-known GPU brands, and they are mostly popular in the local ASIAN market. Yeston and Maxsun brands are a bit okay-ish, when it comes to build quality, but I have not heard of GPVHOSO, and Zoneway before. You need to do some survey to check the reviews. if any for these brands.

It just means they don't have an HTTPS path. Or it's a false positive. Firefox sometimes flags my bank as insecure but when I say "go ahead" it uses HTTPS version anyway.

I see. So, you're saying they might be legit enough to take a chance? Not fake cards. Still work with normal drivers and all?

Yeston makes a lot of weird, boutique cards, like cards based on anime or cartoon characters, and in weird colors that you normally wouldn't associate with video cards.

Wow! That was definitely not on my radar. Thanks for the link. I may have to consider Yetson. Since I started this post though, it seems cards are suddenly more plentiful. (?)
Sadly, still way over MSRP from what they were pre-pandemic.
