I just wonder why certain Monitors make some click sounds whenever the resolution changes, while others don't. May there be a relais built-in?

Thanks for answers, IceDragon

Freedom may be the only true Illusion

It is common for some monitors to make clicking sounds during startup and resolution changes. As the computer boots it goes through a number of resolution changes. Dos mode is typically 640 x 480 windows splash screen then goes to something like 720 x 400 then when windows desktop comes up it goes to whatever resolution you set example 1024 x 768. Some monitors use relays to switch high voltage during resolution changes thus you hear a clicking noise. Typically this is nothing to worry about and is a normal operation of the monitor. If the monitor is making clicking sounds and it is not in a resolution change transition, this may be an indication of a problem.

What kind of problems would those be? My monitor produces clicking sounds and the screen seems to shrink, and sometimes goes completely blank so I have to power off and power back on. It seems to be OK when warm, but not always. A friend told me I may have to "spray WD-40" into the "pots" but I have no idea about what that means. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lorin

i used to get the shrinkage... when it shrinks too much i used to get a white flash then it would get back to normal... i advise you get your monitor replaced... my monitor stopped working after about 2 months of shrinkage the white flashes were only in the last week or so... the clicking sounds are normal...
