Hello!

I am noticing some weird pop-in in Just Cause 3, mainly on trees. The textures will sort of degrade and blur away when I walk away from them. Here is a screenshot (http://i.imgur.com/E81w0PJ.jpg), although it is sometimes worse than this. My question is, is this normal? Is this just how JC handles texture pop-in. If so, I am fine with it, but I want to make sure I haven't turned on anything weird.

Thank you!

Looks ok.

What you are seeing in graphics terms is what we call LOD.
Level Of Detail.

In games the further away or, closer to an object that is highly detailed in texture
The resolution of the texture changes.

It does this for two reasons to conserve gpu processing and utilization, and also memory on the graphics card.

Think of it like yourself trying to read a car number plate from 400 yards away.
And then from 10 feet away from your eyes the closer you get the more details you can see.
But put your nose close to the number plate and things become blurred or less defined, because your eyes cannot focus that close to an object.
Like wise they cannot focus enough if the distance is too great, the image is also less detailed.

A higher resolution texture requires more memory per texture of the graphics card and more power from the gpu to show the detail.

Alright then. I have seen pop-in before, but it was always a lot more instant than this. Usually a texture would just change instantly to a higher resolution once you got close enough. This is the first time I have seen the texture gradually load in as you get closer.
