How do I get rid of the advice on welcome page about number of emails
received. A friend of the kids was using the computer and now each time I go
on the welcome page I'm told that there are 120 new email messages - but they
are for the friend's email address, not ours?

TweakUI for Windows XP, in the Logon section.

TweakUI is available from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (SP1 and later systems)

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp (Pre SP1 systems)
