First I wanted the NEC 19" FE950+ but it seems I can't afford that. So I'm looking at these somewhat cheaper 19". All of them claims 1280*1024 @ 85Hz, but besides that which is the better? I'm not a gamer but I will do some semi-pro graphics working, dtp and photoshop.
The crt's I can choose between are:

Hansol 19" CRT 900P TCO-99 Dot Pitch 0,26mm 2,895:-
Hansol 19" CRT 920P TCO-99 dot pitch 0.26mm Invar Shadow Mask 3,043:-
LG 19" CRT 99G TCO-99 0,26 dot pitch 3,043:-
LG 19" CRT 900B TCO-99 3,143:-
NEC 19" CRT Multisync V921 TCO-99 Dot Trio Mask dot pitch 0.26mm 3,253:-
Hansol 19" CRT 920D TCO-99 Dot Pitch 0,25mm 3,702:-
Hitachi 19" CRT CM-715ET TCO-99 Black Matrix Invar Shadow Mask 0,22 dpi 3,795:-
LG 19" CRT 995FT TCO-99 Flatron Flatron dot pitch 0.24mm 4,514:-

prices are in SEK, just included it for comparision
(100 SEK = 9.50 USD)

I would not suggest you to get a cheaper monitor since monitor is the least likely component to be replaced and monitor plays an important role in the whole computing experience. Advances in technology quickly render CPUs, video cards, and motherboards obsolete but a quality monitor can last years and a quality monitor can mean the difference between an enjoyable computing experience and one plagued with headaches and eyestrain.
Since you are going to order other parts at same time try to save on other parts that you are going to upgrade in the future. I rather have a slow CPU than have an inferior monitor. Since monitor is the least likely component to be replaced if you get a bad monitor you will have suffered longer than get a slower CPU, Video card or motherboard.

yeah, I know and agree. But I cannot really save that much anywhere else in the system, so what I wonder is if any of these mentioned monitors are acceptable. I understand that they may not be comparable with the nec fe950+ but will any of them be ok at least?
thanks for your input, anyway. Keep it coming, I must place this order pretty soon now, or else I will end up spending all this money on beer.

if you can't afford a really nice 19" then maybe you should look into getting a really nice 17"?

repeat after me, we are all individuals!

yes, that is the second option I have in mind. But if any of these 19" above mentioned is ok, then I prefer a 19" to a 17" cause I need the extra "workspace". I have a pretty crappy old 15" right now so anything is an upgrade, but on the other hand I'm spending my time with a crappy monitor at work too, so a good one at home would be nice for the eyes.
I haven't sen any of these mentioned above in any reviews I've found, maybe that is a bad sign...
If you have any opinions about these monitors pleas let me know, otherwise maybe I will consider a 17" *sob*, cause I will probably not afford the nec 950+ I'm afraid.

Your budget is too low to get a nice 19" monitor. I can't really comment on your selection as I know nothing about those models. I have samsumg 955df which is decent. I'm far too picky to recommend it to anyone, though. It has slight bleeding of white on very dark bacgrounds. One corner shows moire patterns that cant' be corrected (at certain resolutions). No else notices though. This model is also quite popular for it's value and bearable picture. Text is decent also.

I guess if you can wait, just get a 17" as nice ones are very cheap. Sony CPD e200 is just $170 (sale from sony direct)! I paid $379 about three years ago. Smaller monitors tend to hide imperfections better than large monitors too.

Check out pricegrabber.com or pricewatch.com if you haven't already.

Finally, for graphics, get a aperture grille if you don't mind the two lines.

Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.

Well, if none of those 19" is good enough it seems that I should buy a good 17" instead, then?
Ok, so here's the new list!

ADi 17" E750 or the M700
Hansol 17" 705D, 710D INVAR, 710 or the 720E
Hitachi 17" CM621ET
LG 17" 700B, 701B, 775FT or the 795FT+
NEC 17" 75F Flat, FE700+ or theV721
Viewstar 17" 1024x768@85Hz

Looking at the two hansol 710:s or lg 795ft+. Is Hansol an "inferior" brand, haven't seen many posts on them? Sorry for all this lists and that, but really, I haven't really found a big selection up here in scandinavia. Suggestions at your leisure

I just got the 795ft+. It is great. All the reviews I saw were great, so I took a chance buying it without seeing it in action. I was not dissapointed. Much better than the NEC trinitrons. The screen is a shadow mask, but looks very much like a trintron tube - slightly concave, excellent picture but without the two lines for support wires. And the electrostatic "buttons" are a great idea, no moving parts to break or wear. I really recommend this one.
Dont go for the 775, the resolution really isnt high enough.
