i'm trying to buy a laptop to play games on. what are the best processors for gaming? i dont want to see lags or abnormal visual effects on the screen.

Are you aware thet laptop I5 are also duel cores and are slightly faster clocked than I3s?
So the difference between the 2 is minimal.
On a laptop an I7 QM version are the equivalent to I5 quads on desktop.

To me all laptops are bad for gaming, so expecting no lag at all might be a little too optimistic, but of course it always depends what game you'll be playing and what settings you'll want, but don't expect ultra high settings with 16x AA on laptop.

AMD A8 or A10 will be your cheapest option to run games on. I wouldn't run them on max settings, but you'd be cruising on medium settings.

ACTUALLY the 3220m is actually an I5 mobiel version, NOT an I3.

My point was in a mobile system the difference between an I3 and I5 is almost nothing. Usually 100-300MHz. Same chip, just faster clock. Giving you minimal gain for a huge gain in price.

i have a i7-3610 QM with a gt 650 gpu and i can play all games on high at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

try to get i7 QM which is a quad core. For now and future sake. the i5 and some i7 are dual cores.

What games do you play?

- my budget is for no more than $700.
- i'm considering the sony S series.
- i only play xbox games. i think pc games could be better, but i dont know. which do u think is better?
- for settings, as high as possible with as little lag as possible.

I7s have 2 more cores than I5s, that means games like Battlefield 3 will run MUCH better.
