Hi,

I am building a desktop PC. I do not game it will be used for office; Internet browsing, watching movies; e-mail, Word and PDF documents; storage for photos and videos.

I am wondering what would be the best option to backup all the stuff. I see three options:
- External HDD
- Dedicated internal HDD
- Raid.

Raid looks more attractive to me as after it has been set up, I do not have to bother copying files; photos and documents. The copies will be created automatically.

Your opinion whether I see it right would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there, vertical123!

Well, as you know there are numerous ways to backup your system. I personally would recommend you to have multiple backups - off-site and on-site.
This means that you can choose RAID 1, for example, as a safe solution for data storage on your computer but just because it duplicates the data on two HDDs doesn't mean that it's a backup. I mean, what happens to your data if a power surge occurs and fries your whole system?
This is exactly why you should have an off-site backup as well - external HDDs, Blu-Rays, DVDs, etc.
The more copies of your most precious data, the less headaches of data loss. Better safe than sorry, right?

Hope I was helpful! Let me know if you have more questions! :)
