i am looking for either dvd-r or dvd+r, price has to be cheap and quality has to be good. Is pine a good brand. Also the dvd-r has to last as long as possible. Possiblely life time.

thanx for replies

How much are you looking to spend? I wouldn't buy an off-brand, I'd buy an older brand name unit if you want to save money.

Fuji is reasonable and Verbatim, I've had excellent results with both, like Crash said be careful going with a off brand name product, you get what you pay for.

I always found inexpensive Imation (& other CMC magnetics made) CD-Rs great.

Are CMC DVDs as good as their CDs?

I never understood why cdfreaks.com and most of their forum members hate CMC magnetics

Maxell and Taiyo Yuden are the best discs on the market right now. Ritek is pretty good in terms of price/performance, but stick to the top two if you don't mind paying a little more.

I'd suggest you stay away from CMC. Their early efforts at making DVDRs were pretty bad. They didn't burn well and had major issues. Their early cdr line stank to, I had 200 discs from them and all of them had degradtion issues after a year. The edge of the disc would be error filled.

If you had good results from them, good luck.
