That's ancient; it pre-dates SATA. That's an old IDE connection, but you'll also need an external PSU to power it. These started to be phased out nearly 20 years ago.

It's almost certainly more cost-effective to buy a new external DVD burner.
 
ide to usb might not work aswell, as optical drives are using atapi and lots of those adapters does support harddrives only (ata), you should read carefully if it suports optical drives or not

tbh i still have ide dvd drive aswell...why? its super quiet, while which ever sata version ive tested is loud as floppy drive (super noisy seek) o_O
they used to cost alot, but with price cuts quality dropped aswell
