what can be optimized/better

Motherboard: GIGABYTE EX58-UD4P
Proccesor: intel core i7 2.67 ghz
Graphics: nvidia geforce gtx 275
Ram: 6 gigs

What do you recommend to optimize H1Z1 and just basic games all around? or if you need any more info about my computer i can provide that based on what you think.

A better gpu obviously what budget would you be able to get for a new gpu get some thing like the 970 or if you cant afford that try the r9 380

so you think the thing holding it back is the graphics card

That is a 7-8 year old processor. One of the first i7's, on the old LGA 1366 platform. If you put in a new graphics card, that would help, but you might pretty quickly get bottlenecked. I wouldn't spend more than $100 on the graphics card for that system - but that means you probably could get an Nvidia 950 soon or 760 and that might be appropriate.

Looks like you have an i7 920, you didn't say what heatsink you have but you should be able to overclock that to around 4GHz with a decent cooler and then bang in something like a GTX 970 or an R9 390. At stock, I wouldn't go beyond a GTX 960 or R9 380.

but ultimately you think the processor should be updated before i would spend a bunch on graphics?
