What can I upgrade? The goal is VR

I want a better PC for high end AAA game at 1080p, and something that would be a bit overkill for VR. I like having more than is needed. Makes me feel safe.

What you have now is fine for VR gaming. Steam recommends an i5 4590 at minimum for VR and the R9 390 scores well within VR ready. If you want to upgrade then just go for an i5 or higher from Kaby Lake and an RX480 8GB or GTX 1070. You could also get away with a GTX 1060 6GB. You would need DDR4 RAM to be compatible so I would say throw 16GB in there at minimum.

get an i7 4790 and a gtx 1070
