Question What can someone actually do with an IP?

So recently I was looking at videos of people using an IP logger to get someones IP and then they put it in an IP lookup site and it gives them information about that ip, the thing is when I do it with my IP it just gives me the info of my ISP and I wasn't able to find a single thing about me. Does this mean I am protected, or like already have my IP hidden, sorta like vpn? Or is there something I am missing?

It can usually tell what ISP you use, and sometimes the general area or city.
That's about it.

But...sometimes that "city" can be hundreds of miles off.
Depends on how the ISP reports things.


But they can't discover anything about "you". Not without a court order, anyway.

The 'court order' refers to getting the personal info from the ISP. Which won't happen without that court order.

Using nmap,
I can usually see if you are up, or down;
I can see what ports are open (different ways to get into your computer and wreck havoc);
I can see what OS you are using;
...

From this, I would very well suggest you use a proxy, or a vpn...all the time. Google 'free proxy' and/or 'free vpn'
