[SOLVED] What could possibly go wrong?

So I bought an old PC, installed 8gb of ddr3 memory, fx 4350 and rx 550 but the benchmarks show realtively low results. 20-30 fps in Dota 2 with high preset directx11, 30-40 fps Fallout 4 medium preset. I don't get it. Maybe I should replace that old dusty 400w psu but is it really the case?

windows 10, latest drivers installed, 1440x900 resolution, Radeon r3 SSD.

Considering buying Chieftec nitro 85+ 550w.

Huh, they've been around a while, but I'd never heard of...

An inadequate PSU will cause failure. It will not cause poor performance.

The FX-4350 is a dated processor, and, while you're running a fairly low resolutio, the RX550 is a very low end graphics card. What sort of frame rates were you expecting, and based on what data?

Now, aside from that, you don't want an inadequate or a poor quality PSU. What is the brand and model of that 400W PSU?

What is this "Radeon r3" that you're referring to?

AMD Radeon™ R3 Solid State Drives (SSD)
I believe thr psu is InWin Powerman 400W.
RX 550 should've showed much better results in Dota 2 according to numerous benchmarks and as far as I remember fx 4350 does not bottleneck it.

Huh, they've been around a while, but I'd never heard of the R3 SSDs. Learn something new every day...

The InWin is not terrible, but it's not a great unit. At least according to this thread:

I'd personally recommend a Seasonic.
