What CPU and motherboard should I buy?

My rig currently has an AMD eight core processor but it's becoming outdated, the current video card is a nvidia 960 but I have a gigabyte 1070 on the way and if I keep the same processor and motherboard then it will bottleneck from what I understand. What CPU and motherboard would be optimal for this graphics card? Thanks

A z170 motherboard, with 16gb DDR4 ram (2x8gb) and a i7 6700k.
