Dear all,

I have been using PC of specs below since 2016

CPU : i5 6400
GPU : GTX1080
RAM : Gskill Rip Jaws V 8GB X 2 2800Mhz
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming
SSD : SAMSUNG 750 EVO 250GB (OS)
HDD: X2 10,000 RPM 1TB HDD
PSU : Thermaltake 550W

Initially I built this PC solely for gaming, but now I have started venturing into Photography business, and is using Lightroom & Photoshop for my work.
I will be getting 2 more 8GB RAM to make it 32GB for smoother operation.

For the CPU, what CPU do you recommend, so that my workflow could be faster? Or will it not make much of a difference?

Thanks!

Solution
Isn't i7-9700k or i9 9900k the best CPU for socket 1151? or my motherboard does not support these 2?

I haven't been catching up with any tech related to PC ever since I built this PC haha, so do forgive me if I am asking somewhat outdated/stupid question.
Check your mobo CPU support for better info on their webpage but most mobos have same slot 1151 but only work with certain generation of CPU like 6xxx and 7xxx, and you need a new chipset for 8xxx and 9xxx generations.

If you are upgrading just CPU get i7- 6700k Or i7- 7700k basicly best cpu for that socket.
And if you want to upgrade the whole computer then get a new ryzen 5-7-9 3xxx (cause of more cores for workloads) series and 32-64 gb of ram. Ssd is always nice that will give it that snappy response. Your Gpu is good.
