what cpu/ mobo should i upgrade to? i currently own an i5 6400 and a b250m gaming pro and i want to switch to ryzen and im on a very tight budget

So you could wait for zen2 or get the 2600 (non x) with an MSI B450 Tomahawk

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F with Ryzen 5 2400G? Or you can wait for a month for so for Ryzen Ryzen 5 3400G to be released, and then buy a suitable x570 motherboard with it?

If the tomahawk is too much you can also get an ASRock B450M Steel Legend
