Phenom IIX4 945 (HDX945WFK4DGM),3.0GHz AM3

Athlon IIX4 640(ADX640WFK42GM),3.0GHz AM3

Athlon IIX3 445( ADX445WFK32GM),3.1GHz AM3

Your board will take 95watt AM3 chips but not 125 watt versions and you lack Core unlocking which leaves out the B55 and up chips which unlock to 955's and up. These will add another core but truthfully nothing is a true upgrade more like a sidegrade. These however will run a little cooler when properly overclocked but you are limited in that by your DDR2 800mhz ram since 1066mhz is the max you will get

Being that you have a 125watt chip you could be running a AM2/AM2+ board or a AM2+/AM3 board, the recommendations differ quite a bit. Also is this a custom build PC or is it a OEM Box from HP or some other Manufacture?

What is you Motherboard and Bios revision? Anything under a Phenom II X4 955+ @ 3.9ghz+ is going to Bottleneck a 960 GTX in most games nowadays even a 955 is going to do that with High settings.

its an old custom built pc, ive downloaded cpu-z to check but not too sure which one it is so ill just list it..
