So first off all Hi =)
and i wanna ask what do u all think about this proc?
is it good in overclocking?maybe u can show me results
of this proc overclock?cuz i wanna buy this and i dont know
is it good in overclock or no

Yea you will be able to get it around 2.6ghz with an after market cooler like the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro and yes it is under $100 now so it is a decent chip especially for the price, but make sure the motherboard and power supply that you get can support your overclock as well as the ram unless you understand the use of a memory divider!

I agree with psycho, I just bought one myself and cant complain at all...its a great chip that I got for way cheaper than it should have been...lol!

yea man after selling my 3700+ to a friend for $60 i got the 3800+ for $85 and now OC it to 2.54ghz on 1.375v and its 12 hours prime stable max temp of 48 degrees celcius...i love it!

I bought one 2 years ago nice chip.
Most my system fried but chip was fine.
So rebuilt a system with it for abour $200 sold it for $600.
It still runs strong.

Personally I'd get an am2 though.
Dual core is really the way to go if it's your main system.
If it's just a system you have for other/e-mail it might not matter.
But if your a gamer and this is your main system I'd get an am2 they're only a little more and it'll last ya longer.

I dont use stock cooler, I have and Arctic Freezer 64 Pro and when you are in the bios and you are getting high temps I wouldnt worry about it, the processor doesnt sit idle in bios...in fact its doing more than if it were just sitting in windows doing nothing...its closer to running a strong app or game!

I have a 3200+ and I love it. When I'm gaming my case gets pretty hot because everything is overclocked but it's fine. It can be a real beast when it's overclocked. It 's only $76 from Newegg.

i got my 3700+ running at 2.8 easy (idle temps @ 34c, load @ 39c). ur 3800+ should hit that no probs.

I have an X2 3800+ not a single core venice. I also used to have the 3700+ Sandy at 2.86ghz! and if you run your test on Prime 95 for 12 hours and done go over 39 degrees then that is mighty impressive because I used to hit 48 to 50 with my 3700+ sandy (and that was measured not only by motherboard, but also by an external reader as well) around the 11 hour mark. Also older netburst temps were more like 55 - 65 degrees!

I have one of those. Great CPU.
Currently OCed to 2.6 on stock cooling, 1.5V.

If you plan on gaming only, it'll be fine. Not so good in multitasking.

Ony thing is a lot of the newer games(Oblivion) are being written for multithreading/dual cores now.

my motherboard will be ASUS A8N-E nForce4 ULTRA
power supply inter tech 2011,400W
and yea im planing on gaming for now
so with stock cooller i can get 2.6GHz?

so with stock cooller i can get 2.6GHz?

Should be able to.
I really wouldn't recommend buying an A64 single core if it's your primary machine though.
However it is your decision.
It's fine for now but in a year or two/vista it'll prolly seem quite the old hat.

so kinda yea for me its only for 1-2 years..
and becides i already ordered it..
so good if it will be able to OC to 2.6GHz
so what u think is newer games like
hl2,Oblivion,FarCry,Quake4 especelly FEAR and NFS:CARBON
i will be able to play on MAX graphics with no lags with
that comp configuration
Video - ASUS EN7600GT
RAM - 2x512/400MHz/ KINGSTON
PROC - AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ S939 BOX VENICE(OC'ed to 2.6GHz,maybe 2.8GHz =) )
Motherboard - ASUS A8N-E nForce4 ULTRA
??

You will get lag on absolute max settings but your games should run well on decently high settings all depending on what your standards of high gameplay are!

I have the 3200+ Venice chip and I love it. I got it about a year ago and it cost me around 150. With the prices so low for the 939 chips I woud go with the 3800 or the 4000 chip since it is not much more $ and will certainly give you an added boost. Or the 3800X2 is also a nice buy right now. I have never over clocked my chip. I usually don't start over clocking until they get older and I need more speed out of them since you can't predict what OC will do to it over the life of the chip.

Well im not sure how to explain it other than with my own personal experiance, With my system...2gb of DDR400mhz at 2-3-2-5 @ 1T dual channel timmings, X2 3800+ @ 2.40ghz now because I like the overall system setting better, an X1900XTX 512mb card with a creative X-FI sound card and a near perfectly clean'd and kept operating system, and I cannot run Fear at max'd settings without dropping to 30 fps depending on where i am and what is happening, and that game uses my dual core and my X1900XTX 512mb is overclocked as well. In order for to consider something with no lag I need 60+ atleast so that is what I mean by it is going to lag on max'd settings because my system which has a few higher components than yours (not trying to say anything is wrong with your system, its a great system that can run any game out...just not perfectly on the highest settings) that if it lags on mine then it will lag on yours, but some people consider above 30 fps to be perfectly fine for them...its just not for me! So I guess thats what I mean!

Oh and I have your same motherboard, which is a great motherboard and I typically do not like ASUS! As for other games like oblivion, that game runs better on ATI and I cant run that perfectly on max settings either!

Everyone always has to have it on max this or max that. Well if it is not running so well turn some of the eye candy off. I have played around with my system on several different games and some of the settings you really cant tell the difference between 2x ansio and 8x etc. You eye can only see so much detail unless your a jet pilot or some thing. I can't really see the difference so turn the settings down and get the FPS you need and it will still look good. The prob I think some people are getting them selves into is they are so used to playing everything on max max max! settings that any thing less they dont like it and cant enjoy it ...............but you know the new games coming out are going to tax your system so you better get used to having lower setting sooner or later.

so yea,3Dball and caamsa i understand, and that AA and AF is really
dont needed i think..but but how my friend told me like
30FPS is like already non lag, clear image, cuz ur eye only can
see 25fps in 1s,so better then 25fps is like non lag already,
so i think if in game will be like 30-40fps i will be clear image,
non lag,and how i saw, that 7600GT even in FEAR can take
40fps at 12-10,so i think 40 fps even in FEAR will be like non lag
(in other games, like q4,farcry,hl2 fps can take even till 100+)
so am i right?is it true that fps better then 25-30 are already like
non lag?

your friend is wrong, 60 fps is what your eye is suppose to not be able to tell a difference if you go above, but if I drop from 80 fps to 60, I can see it very easily! (not trying to say your friend is stupid, but it is just incorrect information)

easiest way to prove it is for u to get the game halo on pc and lock it at 30 FPS and then play it for a little bit then turn on vsync and set your refresh rate to 60hz and you will see the difference in the 30 fps!

Yeah, great CPU this 3200+, very overclockable, too bad is not dual core 🙁

I have mine since august last year and I will keep it one more year I think.
This will be my last single core.
