The quality of the members, answers, and information is exactly why so many of us came here and stayed. While there are many similar forums on the 'Net, none measure up to the collective quality of our members, IMHO. That is what makes the difference, as well as making the reputation of Tom's what it is.

Simply put, it is the people who come here and contribute. Thank you for your membership in our community.
I came on here asking for advice for my first PC build a few years ago and have been using it ever since. Im not sure I would even be where I am today without it, it got me into IT I am now going to school for it and just obtained my A+ certification I didn't have anything going for me before that. So I am very thankful to this forum and everyone in it for helping get into this field.

Just need to come here and say this.

I need to tell you that I knew the date (I'm not blind), but why should that stop me posting if it is not locked. I am not mad I'm just stating my experience with A product,
What is the point of the forum if you can't tell others about company products if someone is asking? I mean yes it has been a long time and may not be relevant, but the whole point of a forum is to pass your experience/knowledge across to others weather it is good or BAD no mater the length of time.

Tomshardware does it on every reviewed item good or BAD? So does this mean that you are mad if you give it a bad review, It is called freedom of speech or does this not apply on tomshardware.

But your response slightly annoyed me and its very unprofessional to be accused then locking the thread.

bash a company (double standards) found after a few seconds.

I don't like that PSU. If you are spending $65, it should be 80+ gold. 550W+ 80+ gold PSU and a 970 or 390. (Or even the 290 seeing as they are the same card.)

7. Necro post. If a thread is clearly old and the discussion is over, please don't post to it without a good reason. The majority of necro posts are deleted, and those threads are then closed.

I think the moderator was thinking you were just looking to bash XFX. You came into a year old solved thread to discuss your experience with XFX, which is fine but you could have went about it differently. I would suggest you start your own thread asking for other peoples experiences with the company while sharing your own. You are both entitled to your opinions but the moderator likely interpreted you as someone who was just trying to cause trouble, maybe wrongly. If you had started your own thread about this topic I dont think a moderator would have questioned you.

Starting a new thread and linking to the old "dead" one would have been preferable but forum etiquette is a lost pleasantry it seems. 🙁

@mickw

at the discretion of the moderator dealing with it.. when an old thread gets necro posted to we can:

A)delete the comment and close the thread (generally if its a rant to get attention or not relevant)
B)leave the comment and close the thread (generally if its pertinent and relevant)
C)allow the comments if the thread is still relevant (generally for open discussion type threads only)

we do the same thing for people posting their questions or rants in other peoples threads (thread hijacking).

i can certainly understand while you are upset but do realize any brand part can fail, out of warranty is not covered and a sample size of just one proves nothing about a companies quality or reliability. xfx is a well respected company and you were just either unlucky, abused the card with heat/dust/overlocking or certain other factors caused a premature failure.

regardless, this is not the place to discuss your feelings on xfx nor you not following forum etiquette. if you do not agree or are confused about a rule it is bst to contact the mod team and ask for an explanation of the rules or why we made a certain decision. if you stay civil the mod team is more than happy to elaborate.

I'm sorry if I have upset you ssddx in any way but, this is just A) Not productive B)insulting of a members intelligence which is one of your own rules (toms hardware). That post is my opinion on the experience I had, he did not like a PSU that is he's opinion "pls accept that", should I have started a new post and then link that post maybe?, I do apologise for this.

But this post is not about xfx" parts failing" or been upset about a product, that's why it is here "What do you think about Tom's Hardware Forum?", And about the reply which was not very polite, (we are not at school he does not need to tell) we ask, And I'm not so-called "bashing XFX",
Yes! Mousemonkey it looks like etiquette is a lost pleasantry " manners and politeness does not cost anything", And will not apologise for toms hardware Moderators bad etiquette,
I will not be replying to other comments as I will not be pulled into a flaming match ssddx.

I do hope you don't class this as hijacking a thread, it does say "What do you think about Tom's Hardware Forum?"

best regards
mick

I came here initially because every time I googled a tech question, Tom's Hardware almost always comes up or has the best solution. I never really spent any time on any forum, but this one was uniquely helpful.

Now I regularly go on it and try and help wherever I can because if I'm wrong about something, someone will step in and correct me which has helped me learn quite a bit.

Occasionally, I ask a question myself to clarify things, and it has been useful since I'm in the tech field. Game giveaway contests are pretty sweet, too, even though I haven't won anything yet.

Starting a new post is exactly what you should have done. Posting onto a year old solved thread to share you somewhat hostile opinion is not what you should have done. Your first words were "very very very biased" a bit immature in my opinion, then you went on to say your mad about them not doing anything for you because your out of warranty? I mean what do you expect them to do? They cant replace everyone's cards that die after the warranty runs out, I doubt that would be good for business. And if you overlooked the warranty status in your country thats your fault, I looked at the warranty page and it says pretty clearly "United States and Canada".
