Building this system for $1435. Sanity check please. I am paying $175 for the ASUS mobo because I am a wimpy non-OC'er nOOb and don't want to deal with finicky DFI, and like the 8 sata ports & many features of the ASUS. I will only do a modest 10-15% OC to get the proc to 4000+ level.
$238 Athlon64 3700+ SanDiego
$175 ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
$222 (after MIR) 2gb OCZ Platinum Pc3200 DDR (2x1024)
$330 (after MIR) XFX GeForce 7800gt 256mb
$135 (local store) Antec p180 case
$118 Antec NeoHE 550W psu
$8 Antec 80mm Case Cooling Fan
$23 Mitsumi Black 7-in-1 mem card reader + floppy
$43 NEC Black Retail ND-2540a 16x DVD burner
$83 UPS Next Day (so it is here by the weekend)
TOTAL: $1375
Sanity check?
Mobo = same features, quality, ease of use for much cheaper anyone? NO DFI!
Proc = save $40 on the 3500+? I can still OC to 4000+ level except with San Diego core it is a "true" 4000 w/1mb cache
Shipping = am I "blowing" $40 to have it here by this weekend? Or is that still a pretty good price even with the little extra for shipping (more convenient, I can put it together this weekend)
Other?
Thanks all...
NOTE: I've been back & forth on this upgrade, but I think I'm gonna do it. I'm selling my P4c rig and I can do the whole upgrade above for only $475 with the sale. That gives me double the RAM, better video, better case, better PSU, + more SATA ports, SLI ability & PCI-E & socket 939 to allow expandibility (current rig is "stuck" with AGP & old socket). Thoughts?
Thanks again,
Dan
