Well, I would think of that as like being able to play through the campaign over LAN or online.

Anxiously awaiting prescott....is it here yet?

Co-op, short for cooperation. Two (or more) people working together not against each other. Unless, of course, you mean coop mode where everyone looks like a chicken and hangs out in the same area.

Thanks guys. So if I'm understanding- in coop mode two or more people play single player-type missions together (working as a team to complete objectives). And this is important to me, it is done over a network or the internet? This is to be contrasted with multiplayer where everyone plays against each other like in Deathmatch.

Co-operative IS multiplayer. Just like DM, Capture the Flag, etc. are multiplayer. The difference is that you are working together on the same team to achieve a common goal instead of fighting against each other. It can be done over LAN or the internet... just like any other multiplayer... provided the game supports it.

I don't know if you remember the game Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines... but that game is an excellent example of co-operative multiplayer over the internet.

Well, in BF 1942 I think CO-OP means computer opponents. When in co-op mode you can have bots and real players at same time. Correct me if i'm wrong or if this is not what your asking.
