What does validating identity mean, a dir615 router, xp home

i have a dir 615 router, on an xp home03, my wireless connection is excellent, but it says it is trying to validate identity. What the sam hill does that mean? I cannot get on the internet through the dagburn router, hardwired it works great

Have a look at the router manual and access its setup pages via your browser. If wireless security is enabled turn it off temporarily check that access list (include by MAC ID) is also not enabled, save settings, exit. Disconnect the wired connection. See if you can then connect wirelessly.

If so, repeat the above with a wired connection, create a WPA-PSK TKIP passphrase in the router's wireless security settings and apply the passphrase to your wireless adapter's user interface.
