I currently have a xfx radeon hd 7950 core clock edition. I've had it since 2012. I'm looking for a new gpu since the 7950 is reaching higher and higher temps. I've wanted to get the radeon 580 8gb or even a gtx 1060 or 1070. But, with all this crypto mining bullshit the prices of most modern gpu's has doubled. Should I buy a gtx 1050 ti which is reasonably priced or blow the money on an overpriced Gpu? I'm not trying to do 4k gaming but I want to be able to play modern games on atleast high settings. Im finding it hard to pay more than double what the gpu should be.

Definitely buy a GTX 1050 Ti as you'll end having to pay almost triple the money for a 1060 6GB while only getting around 70-80% more performance than the 1050 Ti...

Definitely buy a GTX 1050 Ti as you'll end having to pay almost triple the money for a 1060 6GB while only getting around 70-80% more performance than the 1050 Ti. And RX 580s are even harder to find with higher prices to boot.

The 1050 Ti will have much lower temps than your 7950 while providing a significant performance increase. And by the time the 1050 Ti does not perform up to standard there will hopefully be newer generation GPUs with superior performance at the same price point and GPU pricing should stabilize by then too.
