what is a better setup for 16 gigabytes of ram

Is a RAM setup of 2x8 or 4x4 more efficient. I am not putting this in a rig I am just curious.

It depends on many factors, including whether the motherboard supports dual or quad channel memory, and also the version of DDR.

If a dual channel mobo 2x4, is less stress on the MC (memory controller) if a tri or quad channel mobo - then 4x4 to utilize all channels
