no im not talking about a gpu bottleneck
so many tech people get these bottlenecks confused

gpu bottleneck - strong gpu, weak cpu (your cpu cannot keep up)
cpu bottleneck - strong cpu, weak gpu (i am assuming that theres no such thing as a cpu bottleneck)

Yep, it can technically work either way so there is a thing such as CPU bottleneck!

having a i7 5790x with a r7 240 is a bad idea?

Oh right I see what you mean! No, shouldn't be a bad idea but you should check the compatibility first because it could cause problems (overpowering)

It seems that you have it backwards...

A GPU bottleneck would mean that the GPU is the weakest link in your system and is holding the rest of your system back. This would be the case very often if you're using integrated graphics to play 3d games, for example.

A CPU bottleneck would be when your CPU is the weakest link in your system and it is possible. Pairing a Intel Pentium Processor G3220 3.0 GHz with sli gtx980's would almost certainly be a CPU bottleneck.

i guess jayztwocents is wrong

im just repeating what he is saying

bottleneck, means neck of a bottle, and neck of every bottle have smallest cross section area and thus it is limiting the speed at which beer can be filled or retrieve from bottle
in same way if we talk about something is bottlenecking our system then it is the part which is weakest and holding performance

so you got it backward
gpu bottleneck means gpu is weak and holding us back
if cpu bottleneck then it means cpu is weak and holding us back

if those words are of jayztwocent then he is wrong
