What is an Awesome Monitor for Gaming?

I want to buy my boyfriend the most awesome monitor for his computer. He plays a lot of games, including Star Wars, or Star Trek....or whatever! I am no a gamer at all, and have no idea. But, I know he loves it something awesul, and want to surprise him with an amazing gift. Can you help me with some suggestions? Cost is not an issue. Thank you!!!!
