Hi guys,

I'm really into overclocking.
I currently have an i7 8700k chip that is overclocked to 5.3 Ghz @1.37 vcore stable on MSI Z370 A-pro motherboard.
While hearing many negative reviews on this board, I'm quite surprised that this cheapest MSI motherboard can overclock like a champ.

However, i'm planning to upgrade to an i7 9700k or i9 9900k.
With that comes the z390 motherboard upgrade.

So could you guys recommend the best MSI motherboard for overclocking enthusiast?
And would a i7 9700k be worth it compared to my 5.3 ghz 8700k?

Thank you guys for all the advice and suggestion.

Solution
MSI MEG Z390 ACE is about top of the line MSI has to offer.

And would a i7 9700k be worth it compared to my 5.3 ghz 8700k?

Not a chance. 6 cores and 12 threads (at 5,3 ghz) vs 8 cores and 8 threads . if you can game at that speed I cannot recommend it.

Thanks for your response.
In that case I would focus more on the i9 9900k then.

The i9 9900k is said to have a turbo speed of 5.0 Ghz all cores.
Do you know if this is guaranteed and constant for all i9 9900k?

(P/S: Because I saw that Silicon Lottery is selling the i9 9900k @5.0 Ghz for $580.... so I wonder, if all 9900k can turbo to 5.0 Ghz, then why silicon sell it at premium price???)

Oh wow I totally did not catch that.
Hm right now it seems like a $400 cpu upgrade.

Mobo cost around $200, the 9900k costs about $500 considering I can sell my 8700k for $300...........
Maybe I should just save that towards a 2080 ti I guess? lol >___<

Im currently running a strix 2080.

Why upgrade? 5.3GHz is seriously decent at that voltage, there isn't a game on the planet that's going to benefit from loosing 6 threads, even the 9900k is just going to be more heat than it's worth. You'll be dropping half a grand to gain a few fps, that are prolly already above your refresh anyways. Unless you have money to burn, it's really not going to be worth the investment just for bragging rights.

Better off investing in a gpu/monitor(s) that'll let that cpu fly like it wants to.
