Pretty much any game I play runs at or close to 100% CPU and GPU usage. An i bottle necking? What is going on our what am I doing wrong. I've legit tried all that I could and I'm about to give up on it and say screw it.

My build is
I5 6600k clocked at 4.1
16gb ddr4 ram clocked at 2400
EVGA Gtx 1080 SC factory over clock
Corsair cx750m PSU
250gb SSD for OS
1tb SSD for games
MSI z170 gaming m5 Mobo

I run my games at 1440p. No vsync
Medium settings. And I'm lucky to get over 60-80 fps. Gets really choppy. Get screen tears alot. I ran 3d mark. And showed it to EVGA and they said my GPU and CPU are under performing and that my CPU is bottle necking my GPU. I thought my CPU was perfect for it? What is happening?..

1| Make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date.

2| Have you made sure your OS isn't corrupt? Speaking of OS you forgot to mention the OS with which your running your system on. If Windows 10, please try a repair install.

3| You also didn't mention the cooler you've got on that unlocked K suffix processor. The K SKU's don't come bundled with a stock cooler. This leads me to ask what your CPU temps are...?

4| Mentioning the case would also help, to understand the thermals inside.

Screen tearing can also result in your GPU drivers being the issue, have you tried uninstalling with DDU and then reinstalling the latest drivers or at least the last known stable drivers? Speaking of drivers, you didn't mention which game titles are being affected with the lag/bad frame rates.

Sorry i was at work when doing this. Was a long night. I'm using the corsair h60. I reapplied thermal paste to see if that was the issue. It's running a little hotter than usual because i just over clocked it with bios update. Actually it doesn't nvm. Right now its running at 32 degrees celcius on all cores. EVGA told me to update drivers so I did which gave me the ability to use game boost to OC. Im currently using Win 10 Home. I've completly fresh installed twice now and no use. I've use DDU and that didn't work either. I've rolled back to several drivers and none of them helped. Everything is seated properly aswell. The case i have is a NZXT Phantom 410. Im upgrading soon for more space and better cable management. Also heres a list of games i play.
CS:GO
H1Z1 KOTK (buddy plays it with a 970 and gets over 100fps. I get under 50. Same useroptions.ini file.
Infestation: The New Z
Trove ( which can be ran with a crappy laptop.)
BF1
those are the mains. there's many more.
The only place the fps or anything doesnt affect is the HTC Vive. That runs buttery smooth.

If youd like to look at this. Itll tell you what im experiencing. EVGA said my gpu and cpu are under performing.

For what it's worth the H60 shouldn't be paired with the i5-K processor+ an overclock. You may also want to keep task manager open and see how much of your resources are being used at idle or at load. If you're seeing abnormally high usage then it's due to memory leak which should be solved via the repair install suggestion. I made above. The other side of the story could be your PSU, provided your motherboard BIOS and drivers are all up to date.

yeah i plan on getting the h100i. I think i typed that right. Heard really good things about that cooler. and my memory is at 27% with chrome open with 4 tabs. when i close it, my memory goes down. So i don't think it's a memory issue. Also regardless if the cooler is'nt the best. It keeps my temps at a really good temp. There's no way its thermal throttling.

Got a link to it?

Go into BIOS and input the ram timings in there manually or if you're hesitant, enable X.M.P and they should be running at their maximum advertised frequency provided your cooling holds up since the higher ram frequency will stress the IMC on the processor=more heat dump.

Im not supposed to use xmp with game boost. and the game boost already has some sort of xmp profile. Considering my ram used to be 2133. And how do i go about doing so with updating/reinstalling dx11 drivers?

That's what i thought. But it was 2133 before i had game boost on. As soon as i enabled and went back into BIOS it set it to 2400. And i've read around that you shouldnt enable both.

Your graphics Driver can be removed from control panel. Than you can just go to the card manufacturer's website and redownload and install the driver again. DirectX is part of windows and can't really be uninstalled easily. But reinstalling/updating your graphics card drivers have fixed many issues like yours.

I did just notice this. But out of random my fans on my gpu just revved up to max for a second then went back down. Don't know if that means anything.

Out of curiosity, provided you'e followed through will all suggestions made above, can you please pass on the model number for your GPU? Are you sure you're not one of those card owners who will need the BIOS and thermal tape mod to counter the thermal issue?

Last night i actually switched out the GPU with another computer and the gpu performed flawlessly. So im turning towards my cpu having a thermal issue. maybe with my h60 liquid cooler by corsair?
